Lifetime Health Cover calculator

The Federal Government introduced Lifetime Health Cover (LHC) in July 2000 to encourage people to take out private hospital cover. If you do not take out hospital cover by 30 June following your 31st birthday, you will incur a 2% loading on-top of your hospital premium for every year you are over 31 and delay taking out hospital cover (up to a maximum of 70%). Following legislative changes introduced in 2007, LHC loading will cease after private hospital cover has been held for 10 continuous years. Therefore, if you purchase private hospital cover after 1 July 2000 and are currently paying a loading, you will be entitled to have your LHC loading removed after you have retained your hospital cover for 10 continuous years.
Please note Lifetime Health Cover does not apply to overseas visitors.
Use our calculator to find out if your hospital cover is/will be subject to Lifetime Health Cover loading.
A) Lifetime Health Cover loading is calculated according to the number of adults covered. Who is covered / to be covered?
