3. Do you want the Government Rebate as a premium deduction?
The Federal Government's Rebate is available to Australian citizens and residents who are eligible for Medicare and have private health insurance. It is also available to overseas visitors who have a Reciprocal Medicare card. The rebate applies to both hospital and extras cover for Australian citizens and residents; and applies to the extras component only of overseas visitor hospital and extras cover combinations, or packaged cover, for overseas visitors with a Reciprocal Medicare card. It is not means tested.

The family threshold increases by $1,500 per child, after the first child.
