Here you will find information on some possible technical issues and how to resolve them.
The menu doesn’t appear
This is most likely because you have JavaScript disabled in your browser settings. We use JavaScript for our menus and a number of other features on this website. To resolve this issue you need to enable JavaScript in your browser settings.
To enable Javascript:
Internet Explorer users
Depending on the version of your browser the JavaScript switch will normally be in the security settings.
To switch JavaScript on:
- Go to 'Tools > Options' and select the 'Security' tab
- Highlight 'Internet' and click on the 'Custom Level' button
- Scroll down to the 'Scripting' element and ensure that all the settings are set to 'enable'
- Depending on the version of your browser you may also have a 'Microsoft VM' element in the list
- Ensure your 'Microsoft VM' settings are set to 'enable'
- Click 'OK' and 'OK' again to close out of the 'Options' menu
- Refresh your browser by holding down the 'CTRL' key and hitting 'F5'
- The JavaScript elements on the website should now operate correctly.
If not please contact our Webmaster at webmaster@hba.com.au
Please note: Some older browsers have the JavaScript settings in the 'Advanced' tab of the 'Tools > Options' menu.
Navigator/Firefox users
In Navigator/Mozilla the JavaScript switch is located in the preferences. To switch JavaScript on:
- Go to 'Edit > Preferences' and select the 'Advanced' option from the 'Category' pane
- Next select the 'Scripts and Plugins' option and check that JavaScript is enabled
- Click 'OK' to close out of the 'Preferences' menu
- Refresh your browser by clicking the 'Reload' button in the main browser navigation.
The JavaScript elements on the website should now operate correctly. If not please contact our webmaster at webmaster@hba.com.au.
I'm having trouble viewing popups and/or downloading forms and brochures
Our website uses popup windows to display help popups and downloads such as forms, brochures and policy booklets. Many browsers (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox etc.), browser plugins (Google toobar etc.) and anti-virus programs (MacAfee, Norton, etc.) have popup blockers. These prevent popup windows from being displayed and/or functioning properly.
To be able to view popups and download forms and brochures easily from our website, popup blockers must be disabled so that popups are unblocked.
Click on the link below to find out how to disable popup blockers and allow popup windows to display so you can view popups and download forms, brochures and policy booklets easily.

Popups or download links not working? |
I can’t login
There are a few reasons why you may not be able to login to the member area:
- The membership number or password may not be correct
- You may not have 'cookies' or Java switched on in your web browser settings
- You may not have access to the member area because your membership details are not available in the member area
- You may not yet have registered for online services

Username and password
Your username is your membership number. This is on your membership card. Ensure that it is entered correctly (all 8 characters including leading zeros) with no spaces or hyphens. If you have lost or forgetten your password, you can use the 'Lost password?' - there is a link to it underneath the login fields. If you are still unable to login you may need to contact us.

Cookies
To ensure the member area operates correctly we store a small file called a 'cookie' on your computer. If cookies are disabled in your browser settings you will have trouble logging in to the member area. Switching cookies on is straightforward:
Internet Explorer users
- Go to 'Tools > Options' and select the 'Privacy' tab in the window that opens
- Next click 'Advanced' and ensure the settings are all set to allow the use of cookies
Netscape/Firefox users
- Navigate to 'Edit > Preferences' and expand the 'Privacy & Security' menu item by clicking on the '+'
- Select the 'Cookies' option and ensure the settings allow the use of cookies
My information is not up to date
The information in the member area is refreshed on a weekly basis, usually over the weekend, so the member area sometimes may not be displaying the most recent information for your membership. If your details have not been updated following the weekend after you have made changes online, please contact us.
