Employee contributions

The Blue Dove Workplace Giving Program offers Mutual Community employees pre-tax payroll deductions to a range of charities whose tireless work achieves wonderful things around Australia. In 2008, staff will be encouraged to become involved in the Mutual Community Volunteering Program, providing opportunities to work closely with our chosen charities.

Australian Conservation Foundation

Australian Conservation Foundation

The Australian Conservation Foundation (ACF) is committed to inspiring people to achieve a healthy environment for all Australians. For over 40 years they have been a strong voice for the environment, promoting solutions through research, consultation, education and partnerships, working with the community, business and government to protect, restore and sustain our environment. ACF has played a key role in increasing protection for some of Australia's most outstanding natural assets including the Franklin River, Kakadu, the Daintree Rainforest and Great Barrier Reef. Funds donated by Mutual Community employees help to support their many programs.

Flinders Medical Centre Foundation

Flinders Medical Centre Foundation

The Flinders Medical Centre Foundation raises money to support over 400 world-class researchers working at the Flinders Medical Centre and Flinders University as they tackle major diseases in our community including cancer, heart disease and obesity as well as neurological disorders such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease. Funds from Mutual Community employee donations help clinical prevention trials for vital research, necessary equipment and funding for researchers.

The Heart Foundation

The Heart Foundation

Heart, stroke and blood vessel disease is the major cause of death in Australia for men and women. Five times more women die from it than breast cancer. Since 1959, research funded by the Heart Foundation has uncovered much about heart disease, but there is so much more to discover - around 40% of deaths from heart disease is still unexplained. Funds donated by Mutual Community employees help support world-class research into cardiovascular disease, develop guidelines for professionals and inform the public about heart health.

Kids Help Line

Kids Help Line

Funds donated by Mutual Community employees help the Kids Help Line to listen and care for kids across Australia, 24 hours a day. Kids Help Line is Australia's only free, confidential and anonymous 24-hour telephone and online counselling service specifically for young people aged 5 to 25 years. Each week, over 12,000 kids try to get through to Kids Help Line. However, counsellors can only answer 6,000 calls and emails each week - often regarding very serious youth issues.

Redkite

Redkite

Redkite supports children, young people and their families through the difficult journey of childhood cancer. Family life can be put under enormous pressure following diagnosis, and the long periods of treatment take their toll on everyone. With the support of Mutual Community employees and others, Redkite provides emotional support, financial assistance and educational services to these families during the treatment period and beyond.

Special Olympics

Special Olympics

Special Olympics is endorsed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and is dedicated to empowering the lives of people living with an intellectual disability. Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with an intellectual disability. Funds donated by Mutual Community employees help support 4500 athletes by giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendships - helping them improve their overall health and well-being.

Very Special Kids

Very Special Kids

Very Special Kids supports families caring for children with life-threatening illnesses - from diagnosis through to recovery or bereavement. Such illnesses include cancer, muscular dystrophy, neuro-degenerative and genetic conditions and rare syndromes. Sadly, many of the children will not reach adulthood. More than 800 families across Victoria depend on the services of Very Special Kids. Mutual Community’s donations help provide funding for counselling, a cost of a bed overnight for a sick child and delivery services in the home.
