Innovative features

We're the fund that consistently offers innovative health insurance benefits

There are many great reasons to join HBA, one of Australia's largest and most progressive private health care funds. Joining HBA means you get access to health insurance benefits such as:

Ezyclaim

With our Ezyclaim system, your specialist agrees their service fee with HBA and then bills us direct. In most cases, there's no gap and no bill. And if there is a gap, you will know exactly how much you will have to pay prior to your private health care treatment.

More for your membership

We'll recognise you for your loyalty with us. Depending on which cover you choose, you can be rewarded with a Benefit Bonus or Loyalty Maximums (not available on our General Dental product).

Promoting healthy children for life

"Promoting healthy children for life" is a joint initiative between HBA and the Centre for Community Child Health (CCCH), which demonstrates our commitment to promoting child health and supporting the health professionals who work closely with families and young children in the community.

As part of this partnership, HBA's members can access a quarterly newsletter sent to maternal child health nurses, known as the 'Community Paediatric Review'. A valuable information resource that keeps abreast of new knowledge and best practise techniques in raising children in the areas of health, development and wellbeing. In addition, a Parent Information Sheet will also be available with practical tips and advice on helping your child to learn and develop.

Here is an example of a ‘Community Paediatric Review’:

Members First optical network

There are many optical outlets throughout your state that are in the Members First network.

How do I get the biggest rebate?

If you go to a Members First optical outlet, you will receive bigger health insurance benefits than you would at a non-Members First optical provider – you pay less because we pay more on your behalf. Members who are eligible for optical benefits can get discounts on eyewear at all HBA Members First optical outlets.

What's more, you can claim your private health insurance benefits on-the-spot after your treatment, meaning that you’ll receive your rebate immediately and will only need to pay the difference between the provider's fee and your rebate.

At Members First optical outlets you get the following private health care benefits:

Members First and Participating Private hospitals' network

At every Participating Private hospital, and in-line with your cover, HBA fully covers your accommodation, theatre fees and intensive care fees, less the excess or co-payment that applies to your cover.

At Members First hospitals, you can expect:

* To receive a single room for an overnight stay at any of our Members First hospitals, simply book at least 24 hours before your admission and ensure that you request a single room. If there’s no single room available, you’ll receive $50 a day from the hospital for every day you’re not in one. This applies to any overnight admission - excluding nursing home type patients, emergencies, or where a single room is medically inappropriate. Available on most of our hospital covers.
