Cover for your newborn
Preparing for the arrival of a newborn can be a busy time for parents. Between doctor’s appointments, preparations for the nursery and packing overnight bags, it’s easy to forget a thing or two. With you have the comfort of knowing that you can add your baby to your family or single parent policy** within 2 months of his/her birth and they won’t have to serve any waiting periods. All you need to do, when adding your child to your cover, is to sign them up with a start date of their date of birth.

Parent and Baby Wellbeing
Australia’s Parent and Baby Wellbeing program provides support for parents with new babies.
Having a baby is an incredibly exciting time for you and your family. However, welcoming a new family member can be a period of huge adjustment. Australia believes all new parents deserve special attention. So we’ve joined with the Parent-Infant Research Institute (PIRI) at Austin Health to bring you the Parent and Baby Wellbeing program.
PIRI offers an exclusive support service for new parents who may be experiencing anxiety or postnatal depression.

Members First optical network
There are many optical outlets throughout your state that are in the Members First network.
How do I get the biggest rebate?
If you go to a Members First optical outlet, you will receive bigger health insurance benefits than you would at a non-Members First optical provider – you pay less because we pay more on your behalf. Members who are eligible for optical benefits can get discounts on eyewear at all Australia Members First optical outlets.
What's more, you can claim your private health insurance benefits on-the-spot after your treatment, meaning that you’ll receive your rebate immediately and will only need to pay the difference between the provider's fee and your rebate.
At Members First optical outlets you get the following private health care benefits:

Members First hospitals' network
There’s no obligation for you to use a Members First hospital, but if you do, you can expect:
- 100% cover for hospital services, including accommodation, theatre fees and intensive care fees less the co-payment or excess that applies to your cover
- Certainty of a single room or money back*
- Free daily newspapers, local phone calls and TV in your room
* To receive a single room for an overnight stay at any of our Members First hospitals, simply book at least 24 hours before your admission and ensure that you request a single room. If there’s no single room available, you’ll receive $50 a day from the hospital for every day you’re not in one. This applies to any overnight admission - excluding nursing home type patients, emergencies, or where a single room is medically inappropriate. Available on most of our hospital covers.

No gap dental for kids
From 1 October 2006, members of Australia on eligible levels of Single Parent, Family or Family Plus hospital and extras cover can enjoy 'No gap dental' for child dependents up to 25yrs at Members First dentists where health insurance benefits are payable.
This means no out-of-pocket expenses for most general and major dental procedures for your kids, which can amount to large savings.
This offer excludes orthodontics and dental treatment in hospital. Waiting periods and normal fund dental rules apply.
